\x0a\x0aHaiti was hit by a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The death toll is now estimate at 200,000 with another 250,000 seriously injured and 1.5 million people are now homeless. Buildings and infrastructure were destroyed. Lawlessness is beginning to take over as dangerous criminals that were once behind bars are now walking the streets and forming new gangs. People are in desperate need of food, water, shelter and medical care. Many Americans want to help and many are already there doing a tremendous amount of good, but so much more is needed and will be needed over the coming days, weeks, months and even years.
\x0aRight now the physical needs are enormous, but so, too, and even greater, is the need for The Light to shine into this spiritually “dark” country. The light of the gospel for salvation, HOPE and lasting peace must be present if these people are to survive. As each of you pray and ask God for what part He might have you do, please make sure that your investment of time and money has eternal value. Choose wisely in giving to organizations to make sure that your funds are used effectively to help the people of Haiti.
\x0aMany scams and evil people are taking advantage of this situation and setting up fake websites and organizations pleading for support for Haiti, but many are not real at all. Check things out and be wise stewards of the funds that God has entrusted to you. One organization that can help direct you in this is ABWE (the Association of Baptists for World Evangelization) and you can read updates and reports on there website by clicking on this link provided.

\x0aAlso pray for the Oostdyks Family serving with Missionary Flights International meeting the ongoing physical and spiritual needs in Haiti for many years. The have been flying planes in and out of Haiti with much needed medical and other supplies as well as sharing the gospel and love of Christ.

\x0aFinally, please join all of us at Colonial Baptist Church in praying for the people of Haiti and all those who are doing so much to save lives and care for the masses of hurting people.
